E-MAIL PROGRAM SUPPORT
The Mail server is up and running properly!

Some users may experience problems getting their mail if their local mail program is not set up properly. Some older versions of email programs need to be updated. Everyone with an account can check there email by clicking on this link to use WEBMAIL.  This Webmail does not require any email software and can be used to send and receive email.  The new mail server will greatly reduce junk e-mail (spam) and allows new webmail which allows you to check your mail from any browser connected to the Internet without having to configure a email program.



BASIC MAIL SOLUTIONS:
Here are a few items to check in your email program and dial-in setup.  These are the most general pointers for those who know how to configure their own email programs.  Use the help provided in your email program to enter these settings if you don't know how.  SEE SPECIFIC SETUPS FOR POPULAR PROGRAMS BELOW.
Check these items in your e-mail program this information is the same for all mail programs.
1. Check that your incoming mail server is pop.treknet.net
2. Check that you outgoing mail server is smtp.treknet.net  (for most users mail.treknet.net will work as both servers)
3. Check that the account you are checking includes your domain @treknet.net
    For example if your e-mail address is youraddress@treknet.net then you need to configure your email program to check youraddress@treknet.net and NOT just "youraddress"

Specific Mail Program Setups

Choose your email program

Microsoft Outlook Express 5.X or Outlook
Eudora 4.X to 5.X
Netscape 4.X

Configuration for OUTLOOK - OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5.X

Open Outlook and go to Tool then Accounts in the pull down menu, click on the Mail tab then highlight your Treknet email account and press the properties button to see the configuration screens. Check that your configuration looks like the one below by use your email address in place of youraddress@treknet.net.  You can get a Free upgrade for Outlook Express by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and down loading a newer version of Internet Explore and Outlook Express. The upgrade is FREE!


 
 
 
 








E-mail Configuration for Eudora 4.2 to 5.X

Open Eudora, click on Tool then Internet Options then match the settings pictures by replacing the youraddress@treknet.net with your email account information.
If you have a version of Eudora which is older than version 4 you should download a NEW FREE version 5.X at http://www.eudora.com


 
 



Email Configuration for Netscape 4.X Messenger

Open Netscape 4.X, click on Edit then Preferences from the pull down menus then click on the plus sign (+) next to "Mail & Newsgroups" to expand the settings menu, then click on identity and match your personal email information to the one pictured below.

2. Click on the "Mail Servers" link under Identity to get to this configuration screen and check your settings.


 

3. Click on the edit button to Get the "Mail server Properties" and match the information below with your personal information for your account. The close all windows and restart the program.  Be sure you are online when you try to check your email.


Additional HELP
If you still have problem receiving email E-MAIL with your local e-mail program be sure to check that you are using the correct PASSWORD by checking you e-mail address with the WEBMAIL linked off www.treknet.net.
Check the Help information for your e-mail program located in the pull down menu at the top of all e-mail programs.
If you still can not get your local email program to work then use WEBMAIL to contact support@treknet.net and tell us which email program you are using, your email address, your password, and the exact error you are receiving.  Please don't send email to support that just says
"I can't get my e-mail."
